The Russell County Lady Lakers won their final regular season home game this afternoon, defeating the Lady Rebels of Casey County by scores of 8-4 in the varsity game and 4-0 in the JV game. Abbie Tarter, shown above, got the win on the mound in the varsity game while Taylor Irvin got the win in the JV game with the save credited to Chelsey Hadley. The Lady Lakers enter district tournament play this coming week.

In today's baseball game, Larue County beat Russell County 12-1 in the varsity game and 3-0 in the JV game. The Lakers will take on Cumberland County this coming Monday evening to open the 16th District Baseball Tournament being held at Metcalfe County.

In the boys regional tennis tournament today in Berea, the Lakers lost each of their matches. In doubles competition, Kyle Garner and Alex Mann lost both of their matches 0-6 while Jason Turner and Cory Smith lost by scores of 5-7, 6-2, and 2-6. In singles competition, Cary Kingry lost 3-6 and 2-6 and Cody Womack lost 6-7 and 2-6.


Final Regular Season Home Games for Lakers, Lady Lakers

Friday, May 16, 2008 -- Lady Lakers Megan Huckaby and Felicia Coffey will be honored during "Senior Day" ceremonies prior to this afternoon's home game against the Lady Rebels of Casey County. The first pitch is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. at Lady Laker Field next to the Charlene Harris Russell County Learning Center.


These seniors will play their final regular season home game this afternoon at Laker Field. Russell County will host Larue County in a varsity-junior varsity double-header starting at 5:00 p.m.
