There was a lot of action on Tuesday in the world of Laker athletics. The Russell County Middle School football team traveled to Adair County and defeated the Indians by a score of 27-0.
The RCMS girls’ basketball team swept Clinton County last night. In the 8th grade game, the Lady Lakers won 35-27 behind Jaterria Coffey’s 14 points. The 7th grade won 47-21 with both Giada Lindsey and Rachel Bolin scoring 14 points apiece and in the 6th grade matchup it was Russell County 34 and Clinton County 15. Aniyah Coffey scored 15 points for the Lady Lakers in the win.
The Laker boys’ golf team traveled to Adair County Tuesday for a varsity and JV match at The Pines. The Laker varsity won by a score of 158 to 190. Top scorers for the Lakers were Clay Anderson with a 35 and Bentley Perkerson, Chase Carpenter and Dru Stapp all with a 41. The Laker JV defeated Adair by a score of 208 to 209. Top scorers for the Laker JV included Kole Rixon with a 48, Dakota Blevins with a 49, Daylon Blevins with a 55 and Paxton Troutman with a 56.
The Lady Laker volleyball team was on the road at Clinton County Tuesday in a district matchup. The varsity fell 25-13, 25-21 and 25-13 and the JV lost as well, 21-13, 21-5 and 23-21.
Any student grades 7 through 12 interested in signing up for the Laker bowling team, there will be a meeting in the high school cafeteria this coming Monday, September 16th at 6 pm.
With it being Wednesday, the schedule is clear for all teams tonight with action picking back up on Thursday.
